Commitment to Community
Since October 2022, ISC New York has been exploring ways to partner with the Migrant’s Center at St. Francis of Assisi NYC (Director Fr. Julian S. Jagudilla, OFM) to build an immigration clinic for the migrants and refugees from the US-Mexico Border that arrived to Port Authority. Most of them are from Venezuela, and other parts of Central America.
Seeking advice from Co-Director of Immigrant Rights Clinic at New York University School of Law (Prof. Alina Das), Kyle Barron (Attorney-at-Law), Executive Director of Black Institute, (Damaris Rostran), Immigration Clinic Director (Noah Habeeb) of neighboring Synagogue Congregation Beit Simchat Torah, and Nuala O’Doherty-Naranjo (Attorney-at-law) of 34th Avenue Open Street Coalition in Jackson Heights and more, ISC New York has been supporting the Migrant’s Center at St. Francis for capacity building to set up the pilot program that officially launched in May of 2023.

ISC New York is currently assisting in the Humanitarian Aid Project and help the migrant families file Form I-589: Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal. We are actively seeking Spanish-English or French-English bilingual translators who’d like to volunteer for this meaningful project.
